- First wash your hands thoroughly, and then gently wipe the affected area with rubbing alcohol.
- Clean needle or tweezers by wiping with alcohol or washing with soap and water, then dry tweezers thoroughly.
- Loosen skin around splinter with needle; use tweezers to remove splinter. If splinter breaks or is deeply lodged, consult professional medical help.
- Apply topical antibiotic ointment to affected area as directed on package, and cover with adhesive bandage or sterile pad.
